November Newsletter 2020

Dec 01, 2020

Let the countdown begin!!!!  Jingle Bells we are on our way, only 28 days until Santa arrives.  We are so excited here at PeopleSource, it’s been a long year and certainly one to remember (or not perhaps!).  Is your tree up yet?  Halls decked?  Sofa booked for tonight’s Late Late Toy Show - the official start to the festive season!  We hope the season allows you to spend time with family, have some fun and give yourself a huge well done for getting though the year.  We would like to say thank you for your ongoing support, it’s very much appreciated.

Interview Series…

This month we have a very special guest. As the big rush for Christmas is ensuing we are delighted to get the chance to introduce to you Santa Clauses Accountant – Mr.Elf. From training in ‘The Big G’ to recently advising Pascal Donoghue on Christmas you will get great insight into Santa’s Grotto and plenty of laughs from this excellent article.

You’re never too old to have a Christmas wish list so at PeopleSource we put together our hopes and wishes for the forthcoming weeks and year. Fingers crossed we were on Santa’s good list this year and he can make them all come through.

In the news…

What a whirlwind of an American election we experienced during November; I was certainly sucked in to all the coverage. After initially going behind on the vote count, Joe Biden is now the President elect with 51.1% of the votes. With Biden’s Mayo roots and first outgoing call as President elect to Taoiseach Micheál Martin it seems like a Biden win will flourish a strong relationship between both countries in a much-needed time.

As we move back out of ‘Level 5’, rumour has it, the Government is to ease restrictions over the Christmas period. Retail, gyms, hairdressers, and personal services will reopen from the start of December which will give a much-needed boost to communities and the economy. Let’s hope we see those pubs opening too – I could do with a pint at this stage.

There was a recent appeal from Dublin Zoo as it warned it may have to close permanently due to the running costs (up to €500,000 each month) of feeding and taking care of the animals, the ‘Save Dublin Zoo’ campaign was launched and has raised a massive €2 million from the public already.  To donate click here

During this period, your charity is more important than ever. Because of restrictions prompted by the Covid-19 pandemic, Christmas fundraising events have been cancelled, so charities have to ask for funding in a different way. If you can, try to keep charities in mind or maybe set yourself a target of donating to at least one charity between now and Christmas.

In entertainment…

Last month, PeopleSource had a team zoom painting morning. Although initially feeling slightly apprehensive, it is something I would highly recommend doing as a team, we had great fun and were very proud of our efforts. We were provided with painting packs from Irish company Paint and Presecco which were delivered to our door. To purchase our artwork get it touch – Lol!

Although we can’t have Christmas work night outs or nights out with friends this year, we’re here to give you online alternatives. This great Irish company ‘Creative Events’ provides groups with interactive Christmas Quizzes, cocktail making nights and everything in between. Well worth checking them out!

We were delighted to sponsor the ACA Young Professionals online event again this month where we heard from Femi Bankole of Black & Irish and Sinead Carroll of Mini-Media.  A great night as always and we hope to do more of this in 2021.

A request from us to you…we are working on our SEO constantly and have been told that if we get lots of five star reviews on Google, this should help our rankings.  If you have two minutes and are happy to do so, we’ve love your input. Click here to give Google review.

Something from us to you…we were supposed to host an event in November, but naturally, this could not go ahead.  We now have this lovely corporate gift available.  If you would like one, send us your home address and we will pop it in the post to you.

Job Search Rethink – This year has shifted the employment landscape considerably and we have adapted our Job Search guidance accordingly, to ensure we are providing the most valuable, up-to-date support. If you would like a 1-2-1 session on interviewing over video, cv preparation and the market, get in touch and benefit from this free service.

In sport…

The past month has brought a feast of sporting action. With GAA action in full flow, Gaelic Football has taken the headlines so far with shock wins for Tipperary and Cavan in their provincial championships showing waves of joy and emotion throughout teams and counties. This weekend brings about the Hurling semi-finals with Limerick taking on Galway and Kilkenny taking on the impressive Waterford.

Katie Taylor continued her boxing dominance with an easy victory over Miriam Guttierez during November and is now hoping to move up a weight class to fight for more World titles. An incredible sporting ambassador for the country and surely our greatest ever sportsperson.

Rugby Autumn Series – we’ve won one and lost one.  Congratulations to Argentina’s Pumas for beating the All Blacks!  I don’t think anyone saw that coming.  What a month for Argentina, from the Pumas high to the passing of Diego Maradona, the country has declared three days of mourning.  Do we have an Irish sports star who we would do this for?

Competition time…
Each month we ask our readers to answer a question for a chance to win €100 One4all voucher just in time for Christmas.

Last month we asked:

“Who do you think will win the US Presidential Election?”

With over 70% of the vote, Joe Biden was the popular and correct answer.

Our winner this month is Ronan Mannion, congratulations Ronan we’ll be in touch to organise your prize.

Our question this month:

Which month in 2021 do you think we will have the Covid vaccine available in Ireland?

We have been super busy this month and if you would like regular updates follow our LinkedIn company page

If you are considering a move or would just like to find out where we believe the finance recruitment market is at, give us a call.  In the meantime, here is a sample of live roles which might be of interest…

Finally – if you refer a friend to PeopleSource and we place them (there are few T&C’s but nothing too onerous) you will be given a €250 gift voucher! Not bad for helping a friend!

Enjoy the next few weeks, the next ‘newsletter’ from us will be a e-Christmas card and our next newsletter will be towards the end of January 2021!   Thanks, Gary   M:086 781 4704
