March 2019 newsletter

Mar 01, 2019

Hi all,

There’s been so much going on since our last newsletter – Ireland Special Olympic stars returned home from the World games with a sensational 86 medals – 30 gold, 29 silvers and 27 bronze,

Ireland men’s soccer team get off to a perfect start in their European Qualifying campaign with two wins from two( even if the whole John Delaney saga has overshadowed this) , the mad week of Cheltenham has passed us which we hope brought you some luck, New Zealand has banned the sale of all “military-style” semi-automatics, assault rifles and high capacity magazines, less than a week after 50 people died in live-streamed shootings at two Christchurch mosques and in the middle of it all we had St Patricks Day with nearly 500 iconic landmarks across the globe got an Irish makeover as the world was lit up in 40 shades of green. Not to mention the British government's vote on the EU Withdrawal Agreement, which would qualify the UK to be granted an automatic delay to 22 May of the formal date of Brexit.

As the saying goes ‘there’s no rest for the wicked’ and that is particularly true of the recruitment market at this time of year in Ireland for several reasons including the fact we are reaching full employment, people have received their bonuses and most businesses have completed year-end, this tends to be one of the main times of year people start looking for a new role and all that movement creates new opportunities – see our jobs listed below.

Remember…

Some of our roles are confidential for a variety of reasons so if you don’t see anything that takes your fancy feel free to give me a call or you have only started thinking about your next move send me a private note here and I will contact you directly.

Top tip…

As the market is in full swing how do you stand out from the crowd? If you find your not getting shortlisted for roles you apply for or just need some advice on your CV. Here are certain things that will help such as;

· Keep it to two pages

· Education at the top with relevant highlights listed such as first time passes, A1 in Accounting, Leaving Certificate points etc

· Add a brief skills section to show what makes you different: SOX, US GAAP, SAP, FP&A, a second language, international experience

· Have at least one achievement for each role to show how you went above and beyond the call of duty

· Keep it succinct (do not copy in your job description for your experience) but do include numbers/percentages of increased output, reduced headcount/time saved due to process improvement implementation

· Include your hobbies/interests but keep them relevant and up to date for example don’t put down ‘Hockey’ but have not played since school. People do read this section as it says lots about you

Competition:

Last month we asked on which day of the week are you most productive. 50% said Wednesday 20% Tuesday and 15% said both Friday and Tuesday. So, it’s not just me who isn’t productive on a Monday. Congratulations to Sinead Nolan who is the winner this month. Sinead, we’ll be in touch!

Our question this month is –

how many interviews have you done in the past 6 months?

· One

· Two

· Three

· Four

· Five or more

Respond here to be in with a chance to win this month’s prize.

Two flexi tickets for the Punchestown racing festival in May which will allow you free entry for any of the 5-day festival you wish to attend. We also will throw in two free €10 bets.

We are pleased to continue our Spring “Refer A Friend” Campaign for 2019. This quarter, a €250 one for all voucher is available. All you have to do to win is to refer a Finance candidate to us whom we go on to place – simple (there are a few T’s & C’s but nothing ridiculous).

That’s it for this month. We leave you with a selection of our live positions – please reach out if you would like to hear about the market and don’t forgot to follow us on our LinkedIn company page to see all our latest roles - https://www.linkedin.com/company/peoplesource-ie/

That’s it from us this month.

Thanks,
