Have you added international experience to your CV yet?

Nov 24, 2015

The job market is picking up in Ireland which is great news just make sure each career move adds to your CV – a new skill, competency or dynamic for example.

This is where an international move is invaluable – experience a different culture, deliver outside of your comfort zone, demonstrate independence, adaptability, flexibility and thrive with the new challenge.

This might only be a short-term move of 12 – 24 months, but the benefit will last a life time.

Your international experience can be used in answering a multitude of competency based interview questions with exciting and different examples which may inch you ahead of your peers.

It will open up conversations at networking events, business meetings and social occasions, again adding a different dimension and potential view point to a conversation.

International experience on your CV says a lot about you – adventurous, inquisitive, curious, unafraid, open to learning new experiences, willing to ‘give it a shot’ – these are all excellent traits in a future employee for an organisation and you haven’t even said a word yet!

Ireland is great, friends, family & familiarity are fabulous, but they will always be here for you, so why not give it a go. I did and it’s something I’ve never regretted, I doubt many have.

I am working with clients with roles for qualified finance professionals in Jamaica, Toronto & Beirut!  (Oh and Dublin too!)
